Aromatherapy: Essential Health, Safety, and Policy

Course aims

This course covers everything you need to know about using essential oils and massage in your workplace.  It looks at all the relevant legislation in order to satisfy Health and Safety and COSHH guidelines when using massage and essential oils in NHS establishments, in care homes, at a place of work or with students in special education.  You will examine safety, risk assessments, and specific contraindications including medication along with the necessary treatment documentation and record-keeping.

You will look at permission and consent as well as examining your own responsibilities as a therapist, or person overseeing the use of aromatherapy in an establishment.

By the end of the course you will have drafted an essential oil policy to suit your own establishment and will be able to take away templates for record keeping, risk assessments and treatment planning.
