Autism affects 4 per 1000 people Asperger Syndrome affects 20-25 per 1000 Notes Some sources put the instances of AS much higher, the autistic behaviour often being mis-diagnosed as attention deficit or other conduct disorder. Recent research shows that any large school is likely to encounter several children showing autistic behaviours. It is much more more common in boys than girls (10-1) and is often associated with other problems such as tic disorders, attention problems, mood disorders, anxiety and depression.
